SUNNYVALE, CA (12/9/91)--Responding to the demands of increasingly
sophisticated end users in the standalone computer-based-facsimile market,
GammaLink has announced a program to allow GammaFax NA and GammaFax MC
owners to upgrade to the higher-performance GammaFax XP or XP MC fax
boards. The upgrade program follows the company's decision to discontinue
the NA, the original PC-to-fax package for standalone PC's, and the
GammaMail e-mail fax gateway package. Effective January 1,1992, registered
GammaFax NA users will be able to turn in used NA boards and upgrade at a
substantial discount to the XP which can be used in either standalone or
network environments.
Since the introduction of the NA in the mid 1980's, the CBF market has
changed dramatically. The NA was GammaLink's breakthrough PC-to-hx package
which allowed single users to send fax transmissions from a standalone PC.
During the past nine years, many users have seen the broad scale benefits
of CBF and now require more sophisticated technology to take advantage of
its numerous applications. GammaLink saw this trend and focused its
research and development efforts on providing an advanced line of
network-compatible and commercial products. Those products, the GammaFax
XP and GammaFax CP, are currently in application environments ranging from
standalone desktop telepublishing systems to complex network fax switches
with hundreds of lines, to the rapidly expanding interactive voice/fax
technology marketplace.
Upgrade Program Available To NA and MC Users
GammaFax NA and MC users have the option to upgrade to the GammaFax XP, the
price/performance leader in the network fax board marketplace that
provides added capabilities including automatic text conversion during
transmission, multi-line support, a 16-bit microprocessor, and 512K RAM
for on-board processing. The XP provides an easy upgrade path to
GammaLink's top of the line GammaFax CP if additional capabilities are
required in the future.
GammaFax NA or GammaFax MC users registered by December 31, 1991 have 120
days to either purchase additional boards or upgrade to the GammaFax XP or
the GammaFax XP MC. To initiate the exchange program, users purchase the
GammaFax XP or XP MC for $595 and $695 respectively. Users then return
their GammaFax NA or MC boards to GammaLink, and upon receipt of the
boards, customers will be issued a credit for $245 for each NA, and $345
for each MC. Company Also Discontinues GammaMail
GammaLink is also discontinuing GammaMail, an e-mail fax gateway software
product for 3Com 3+Mail users. This announcement follows 3Com's decision
to obsolete its 3+ Mail product which is required to use GammaMail. As of
January 1,1992, GammaMail will no longer be sold through distributors and
current registered users will have 30 days to order the product directly
from GammaLink.

SUNNYVALE, Calif. (2/4/92)---Responding to the needs of VARs, developers,
systems integrators, and end users in a wide variety of emerging
technology segments, GammaLink has announced the availability of the
GammaFax Resource Directory. This 117-page guide provides companies with
the resources necessary to develop or purchase the most advanced and
diverse computer-based fax application technology. The GammaFax Resource
Directory will be available free at GammaLink's booth, #712, Networld,
Boston, February 11-13 and will be included in all GammaLink hardware
shipments.
"As technology evolves and as companies strive to develop and utilize
unique and sophisticated applications, tools such as the GammaFax Resource
Directory are an excellent resource for VARs, developers, systems
integrators, and end users," said Judy Pirani, fax industry analyst for
BIS Strategic Decisions. "GammaLink is a leading fax industry player and
the designer of the core fax technology platform for numerous
applications. We are pleased to see that the company has again taken the
lead by developing a resource that will be a vital component in the
evolution and acceptance of computer-based fax technology."
The GammaFax Resource Directory includes more than 100 different products/
services based on GammaLink's core fax technology platform and provides
companies with valuable information regarding a wide variety of
computer-based fax applications. The guide is divided into specific
sections including network fax servers, e-mail fax gateways,
enhancements/utilities/hardware accessories, mini/mainframe fax servers,
fax broadcast systems, image systems, integrated voice/fax systems,
vertical applications and public fax services and developers. Each section
also features an overview which describes the application, summarizes its
benefits, and lists its typical uses. Examples of products highlighted in
the directory include Hewlett Packard's OfficeFax facsimile gateway
solution, Ibex's Factsline integrated voice/fax response system, and
Xpedite's fax service.
GammaLink's GammaFax CP and communications software are the core fax
technology platform for most of the products listed in the resource
directory and represent the industry's first technology to meet the
performance, capacity, and reliability requirements of high volume,
multi-network use. Developers also use the GammaFax CP with GammaLink's
sophisticated programming languages such as the dBase-like GammaFax
Command Language (GCL) and the optional C-level GammaFax Programmer's
Interface (GPI) to easily integrate fax capabilities into applications.
"In comparison to other product offerings, GammaLink provides developers
with the most complete and reliable platform for the third party
development of computer-based fax applications," said Grant Chenier,
president of Faxperts, a GammaLink developer specializing in hardware and
software system solutions related to computer-based fax technology. "This
guide validates the GammaLink platform's ability to be easily and
completely integrated into applications and will prove valuable in
providing the resources necessary for developers to add additional
capabilities."
GammaLink, Sunnyvale, Calif., established in 1983, is the originator of the
